About Bart Beck

WHAT NEXT

When I returned from Onaway the company asked me to take a Pipe Line Crew, as they had a four inch steel job in Dowagiac and several thousand feet of two inch, threaded steel, to install in the Kalamazoo area. This meant that I would be able to stay at home and drive to and from work, so I decided to stay, for the summer.

I worked those jobs until the first of September and was then assigned as General Foreman, to build forty miles of single pole, 66,000 volt transmission line, from Niles to Schoolcraft, Michigan. That job wound down in the early spring of 1951 and, at that time, the company asked me to become their Superintendent of Underground Construction. The work was, at that time, confined to Southern Lower Michigan, so I took it.
