Only a few miles North of Roanoke Island, on the Outer Banks, is Kill Devil Hills, where the Wright Brothers made their flight.

It must have been during the winter of 1938 or 1939 that some of us fellows, from the Pulp Mill, went out to Currituck Sound, goose hunting, and before we went out to the blind, we stopped at a country store to get some ammunition and some information. As it turned out, the man who owned the store (Mr. Tate) had assisted the Wright Brothers with their flights and had stored their airplane in his barn. He was a most interesting gentleman to listen to, and he, in fact, closed up the store and went goose hunting with us.
